More Details Emerge In Browns Yearning For New Billion-Dollar Stadium

(Dennis Robaugh / Patch)

1) A high-ranking Cleveland Browns source confirms that the team wants a covered stadium with a retractable roof "in or near downtown." The source told NEOtrans Blog in great detail what the team is looking for. NEOtrans Blog previously reported the stadium the Browns seek would cost a billion dollars.

  • The Browns want out of FirstEnergy Stadium, owned by the city of Cleveland, when the lease expires in 2028.
  • They want a retractable roof and an all-purpose facility.
  • They want hotels and restaurants near the new stadium.
  • The source told Ken Prendergast that the team has hired M.A. Mortenson Company of Minneapolis to study the possibilities.

The Browns deny all of this.

2) Cedar Point will disband its private police force and let Sandusky police investigate crimes at the amusement park. By 2023, Cedar Point's security officers will only provide security at the park. Actual city police will investigate crimes — like the summertime dormitory rapes exposed by 3News WKYC that employees are accused of committing. The park police held police powers, made arrests and investigated crimes in employee housing. More than 5,000 people work at the park.

3) Fanny May has been making chocolates for more than a century, and if you'd like to see how they do it you can tour the North Canton factory. More than 400 employees work at Fanny May's chocolate factory, which sprawls across 220,000 square feet. Fanny May is the fastest growing premium chocolatier in the United States.

4) Cleveland State University's dean of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law said the testimony in Tuesday's Jan. 6 hearing was "damaging" to former President Donald Trump. Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to the former White House chief of staff, told the committee about Trump's efforts to wrestle the wheel away from his driver and turn his car toward the capitol building and how he tried to wrap his hands around his Secret Service agent's throat when they stopped him. She also testified about cleaning ketchup off a wall after the president threw a plate in anger.
