Cleveland Daily: Catch up quickly on what you need to know today.

Good morning. It's Monday in Cleveland and we're back with today's news and the best-looking bacon-and-egg biscuit sandwich we've ever seen. Let's get started.

  • Sadly, a father seriously wounded in last month's steel plant explosion died this weekend
  • Your Browns have new security for fans and possibly newfound security in their potential No. 2 quarterback
  • Things didn't go well for the Cleveland Orchestra's Harry Potter performance

🧡 And may Jim Mueller, who was a color commentator for Browns games from 1975 to 1995, pairing with Gib Shanley, Nev Chandler and Doug Dieken, rest in peace. His passing was announced Sunday.

FirstEnergy Stadium has new-age security screening. (Patch photo)

2) A "new-age metal detector" using machine learning and artificial intelligence will screen Browns fans as they enter FirstEnergy Stadium this season. Evolv Technology sensors will detect guns, knives and other weapons while also allowing fans to move through the gates quickly. Game-goers will not need to be searched by hand. “You literally walk right through; 95 percent of fans will never have to slow down or stop for security screening,” said Brandon Covert, vp of information technology.

3) Speaking of the Browns, quarterback Josh Dobbs flashed a Greg Pruitt-like rip-away-jersey moment as he rushed for 36 yards into the red zone during the Browns preseason home opener Sunday. The ripped garb was his undershirt not his jersey, but he looked good throughout the game. He ran for a touchdown, completed 14 of 20 passes for 141 yards and notched an 89.8 QB rating. He's making a good case for himself as the No. 2 quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett.

4) Let's all meet here for breakfast! Shawnda Moye owns the Roaming Biscuit Bake Shop & Cafe in Tyler Village at 36th Street and Superior Avenue. Seven years ago, she moved to Cleveland to work as a caterer and realized fresh biscuit sandwiches were scarce here. She started selling breakfast sandwiches in pop ups around town, then opened her eatery in June 2021. Recently, Ray Horn of the Cleveland Observer visited this Black-owned business for breakfast and called it a "hidden gem." If more Cleveland Daily readers stop in at 3615 Superior Ave., Building 31, maybe Shawnda Moye's bake shop won't be so "hidden" anymore.

5) Many ticket holders eager to see the "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" Cleveland Orchestra performance at Blossom Music Center Saturday night were turned away because of weather concerns while others mistakenly were told the concert was canceled. Bad weather delayed the show, but only those who entered prior to 6:30 p.m. were allowed to see the performance. Others in the parking lot were denied entry. Cleveland Orchestra issued a statement: "To our August 20 Harry Potter Blossom ticket holders, we apologize to those who were turned away at Blossom. We made this decision for safety, due to severe weather with the threat of lightning throughout the evening and the risk given the open and exposed areas of the Blossom parking lots and grounds."

  • Crooked smiles and bunny hops: "Behold Athena, Goddess of wisdom, righteousness and skills ... and of snuggles and zoomies and crooked smiles. At just around 36 lbs, Athena is a pint-sized nugget, perfectly suited to climbing onto laps for cuddles and smooches. But her small size holds a big, spunky personality.
