UPDATE: 69-Year-Old Woman Struck by RTA Bus was Crossing the Street

The woman remains in critical condition at MetroHealth Hospital.

CLEVELAND, OH — The person who was struck by an RTA bus yesterday has been identified as a 69-year-old woman who was crossing the street.

According to a 911 report, the woman was conscious right after the crash and was bleeding from the mouth and nose. The witness that called 911 said it looked like she was having difficulty breathing.

"Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the pedestrian and her family," RTA spokeswoman Linda Krecic said in a statement.

Police say that the woman is suffering from head injuries and she remains in critical condition at MetroHealth Hospital.

The accident occurred on Public Square where RTA busses are currently prohibited from driving through. In November, Mayor Frank Jackson said that the decision to prohibit busses from driving through Public Square was made out of a concern for safety reports cleveland.com.
