COLUMBUS, OH — John Glenn, an Ohio native who was known around the world as the first American to orbit Earth died last Thursday in Columbus surrounded by family. He was 95.
For mourners to pay their respects, his body had been kept in state at the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, Astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn will be escorted by a platoon of Marines up High Street to Mershon Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. for a celebration of his life which is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
