CLEVELAND — A winter storm could move into northern Ohio on Sunday night, bringing "shovelable" snowfall to the region.

There is currently a 90-percent chance of snow on Sunday, with snowfall of 1 to 3 inches expected overnight. Snow is likely to continue falling through Monday morning and afternoon, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service, but it's not yet clear how much more snow may come Monday.

"We are monitoring the western edge of a winter storm across the eastern U.S. for snow potential across our area late Sunday into Monday," the National Weather Service said on social media. "Shovelable snow is becoming more likely from eastern Ohio on east into Pennsylvania."

While there are snowfall predictions for Sunday night, the agency has not yet released expectations for Monday. However, there is a chance snow will start Sunday and continue through Monday and part of Tuesday.

Snow is unlikely to accumulate west of I-71, the National Weather Service predicted, but could hit the snow belt hard. It's unclear how much lake effect snow might add to accumulation totals, the agency added.
