Winter Storm Warning Issued For Northern Ohio

Predictions for the winter storm have worsened and the area is now under a winter weather warning.

CLEVELAND - A winter storm warning is now in place for much of northern Ohio. Conditions could deteriorate quickly across the region as temperatures plummet, the National Weather Service warned.

"Rain will continue to change to a wintry mix of precipitation and then to snow from northwest to southeast the rest of this evening and overnight tonight," the agency said.

A winter storm advisory was issued for northern Ohio on early Thursday, but was upgraded to a storm warning on Thursday night.

"Plan on slippery road conditions and poor visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute," the agency said.

The winter storm warning will remain in place through 7 a.m. on Friday. The following counties are impacted: Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties.

"Moderate to heavy mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of one tenth to a quarter of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph," the National Weather Service said.
