CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH β€” On Monday, residents and businesses in Cleveland Heights will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Cleveland Heights.

Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

  • Cleveland Heights City Hall will be closed.
  • The Cleveland Heights Community Center will be closed.
  • Heights Libraries will be closed.
  • The Heights Schools will be closed.
  • Trash collection will be delayed one day.

A special Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration was organized by the Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth, St. Vincent Charity Medical Center and University Hospitals. The program featured a speech from Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb, musical performances, an interfaith video and more.
