Columbus City Council eying radon legislation after Dispatch reporting (dispatch.com) — Columbus City Council is preparing new radon legislation that could affect landlords, home sales, and possibly schools across the city. Spurred by The Dispatch’s “Invisible Killer” investigation, officials are studying other communities’ rules while residents can now borrow continuous radon monitors from every Columbus Metropolitan Library branch to test their homes and share results.
   

2. Man arrested after alleged robbery, crash following police pursuit (abc6onyourside.com) — Columbus police say a 30-year-old man was arrested after an alleged Christmas Day robbery on East North Broadway and a U-Haul pursuit that ended in a crash on East 5th Avenue. He’s now being held on a combined $1 million bond in Franklin County Municipal Court and is suspected in several other recent aggravated robberies.
   

3. Columbus police step up holiday enforcement amid deadly car crashes (10tv.com) — Columbus police are increasing holiday traffic enforcement after several recent fatal crashes, including one on Christmas Eve near Roberts Road and Windflower Road. Officers warn that impaired and single-vehicle crashes spike between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, and neighbors are calling for stronger police presence and safety improvements at dangerous intersections.
   

4. Ohio fun family-friendly activities that are good during the holidays (times-gazette.com) — Columbus families have plenty of ways to beat cabin fever this winter, from Wildlights at the Columbus Zoo and festive displays at Franklin Park Conservatory to hands-on science fun at COSI and virtual reality adventures. The guide also highlights escape rooms, skating, gaming centers, and similar attractions in Cincinnati and the Akron-Canton area if you’re up for a short road trip.
   

5. Man arrested in connection with 2022 theft of over $250,000 worth of jewelry (abc6onyourside.com) — Columbus police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a 2022 burglary at a Tuttle Mall jewelry store where more than $250,000 in jewelry was stolen. He was taken into custody on Christmas Eve, arraigned in Franklin County Municipal Court, and given a $15,000 bond, with his next court date set for December 30.
