• Kent officials enjoying bigger City Hall (record-courier.com) — Kent officials have moved into a new, larger City Hall on South Water Street, next to the city’s police and fire stations. The 25,000-square-foot building replaces the cramped former offices in a converted grocery store, adds flexible meeting spaces, and significantly improves energy efficiency and natural light for staff and visitors.

• Streetsboro home destroyed, but no injuries reported in Dec. 18 fire (record-courier.com) — A massive fire destroyed a renovated home on Seasons Road in Streetsboro on Dec. 18, but no residents or firefighters were hurt. Kent’s fire department was among several regional crews that hauled water long distances, closed roads, and worked for hours overnight to contain the wind-driven blaze and protect surrounding areas.
