Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. Building Bridges to Careers hosted its yearly "Discover Law Enforcement Day" at Washington State Community College, giving high school students a chance to engage with local law enforcement agencies. The event not only highlighted the diverse opportunities within the field but also offered interactive experiences, such as a distracted driver simulator and interactions with the Marietta Police Department K-9 unit. The growing interest in law enforcement careers is of great significance as agencies currently grapple with recruitment challenges and seek to attract new applicants. (WTAP)
  2. The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is emphasizing the importance of community involvement in promoting tourism. With a rich history and various attractions, the area attracts thousands of visitors annually who come to enjoy festivals, bike trails, and historic landmarks. Mike Ryan of the CVB highlighted the importance of community engagement, suggesting that visitors are more likely to remember the people they meet and interact with during their visit. Ryan is encouraging locals to volunteer. (WTAP)
  3. The Ohio State University Extension in Washington County has revealed the winners of the yearly 4-H College Scholarship Awards. These scholarships are granted to high school seniors or college freshmen who have been active members of 4-H for a minimum of three years. Selected by the Washington County 4-H Endowment Committee, the recipients will receive scholarships ranging from $250 to $500 to pursue their education in diverse fields at institutions including the University of Rio Grande, Marshall University, Otterbein University, Muskingum University, and Washington State Community College.
