Marietta Salvation Army opens warming center for winter season (wtap.com) — If you need a warm place this winter in Marietta, the local Salvation Army is offering a daytime warming center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with flexible hours during extreme cold. Staff can arrange emergency hotel stays, transportation, and even welcome well-behaved pets while coordinating with other city resources to keep vulnerable residents safe.

2. Washington County Board of Developmental Disabilities considers major changes after levy failure (wtap.com) — Marietta-area families using Washington County developmental disability services should watch for big decisions next month, as the board votes January 13 on shifting preschool and school-age programs to the Educational Service Center at Ewing School. All current school, early intervention, and pool services will stay unchanged through June 2026, but staffing and long-term early intervention offerings could be reduced afterward.

News 15 Dec 2025 (washingtoncountysheriff.org) — Washington County deputies reported several recent property crimes, including a breaking and entering, mailbox damage in Muskingum Township, and a catalytic converter theft. The jail intake list includes a 36-year-old Marietta resident booked on a misdemeanor probation violation, alongside others from nearby communities. The Washington County Jail currently houses 23 women and 96 men.

Marietta College names new head football coach (wtap.com) — Marietta College has promoted longtime assistant Tom Hinkle to head football coach after Tom Kaufman left for a high school job in Cleveland. Hinkle, a former Pioneer standout and nine-year staff member, takes over immediately after helping lead one of Division III’s top defenses in recent seasons.
