Cornerstone Christian Academy to Move Elementary Program to Grace

Willoughby, OH: Cornerstone Christian Academy will move its flourishing Elementary School program from Willoughby Hills Friends Church to the campus of Grace Church of Mentor, 6883 Reynolds Road, for the ‘20-’21 academic year. The move is motivated by a desire to better meet the needs of Christian families who desire faith-based, Christ-centered education for their children. Jim O’Leary, CCA’s School Board Chair, explains; “CCA offers solid academics, with teachers and staff who pour truth and biblical wisdom into their lessons. Last year our admissions were up by 20%. Moving our Elementary to Grace Church allows us to serve more students at both of our locations.” Cornerstone’s Middle School, Junior High School, and High School programs will continue to operate at the current Willoughby Hills Friends Church location.

Cornerstone Christian Academy and Grace Church of Mentor will share the campus until Grace’s new church building project is completed. They already share a vision for ministry, which paved the way for a successful partnership. According to Grace Pastor of Youth and Administration, Steve Sindelar, the move represents a win for both sides; “We see this agreement as a tremendous answer to prayer which allows CCA to accommodate for their continued growth and us to commence the building of our new facility on State Route 306 and Adkins Road.” Sandi Ortiz, Cornerstone’s Head of School, agrees; “A shared desire for Christ-centered ministry fuels our partnership with Grace Church. We seek to meet God’s call to educate more students with solid academics and wise biblical counsel. Grace Church has supported that goal throughout our negotiations.”

Cornerstone’s Elementary School program will be led by Tiffany Callihan as Elementary Principal. Callihan currently serves as an Elementary Lead /Fourth Grade Teacher at CCA. She is excited about the opportunity to expand Cornerstone’s ministry through the addition of the Mentor Campus. “Moving our Elementary Program to the Grace Church campus allows us to be more creative and flexible,” Callihan explained. “It allows us to open our doors to more families who want solid academics for their students, coupled with the beautiful truths of Christian faith. Our Elementary team is thrilled to see how God will work through our student body as we move to Mentor.”

Cornerstone’s Elementary begin operating at the Grace Church location this summer. Doors will open in Mentor when the ‘20-’21 academic year begins next August.
