• Mentor City Council approves bid for sidewalk project on Tyler Boulevard (news-herald.com) — Mentor City Council has approved a nearly $395,000 contract to add sidewalks along Tyler Boulevard’s south side between Heisley and Hopkins roads, improving safety for workers who now walk on the street. Funded largely by a Laketran grant, the project will better serve bus riders in the city’s main manufacturing district and could be fully covered if costs rise.
   

• Euclid vs. Mentor boys basketball: Panthers record signature win over Cardinals, first since 2018 (news-herald.com) — Mentor High’s boys basketball team fell 78-65 at Euclid on Dec. 12, snapping a seven-year winning streak the Cardinals held over the Panthers. Despite a strong second-half run led by Bernard Gnjatic and Tony Katava, Mentor couldn’t overcome Euclid’s hot three-point shooting and rebounding edge, and now turns attention to a showcase matchup with Canton GlenOak.
   

• Vine Street Corridor project may see another NOACA grant (news-herald.com) — A Mentor-based firm, Verdantas, has been chosen to handle new lighting and landscaping for the multi-city Vine Street Corridor overhaul linking Willowick, Eastlake and Willoughby. Local leaders are pursuing another $1.5 million NOACA grant, with major work expected to ramp up after ongoing resurfacing and utility projects and potentially wrap by 2027.
