• Police officers rescue woman from Lake Erie at Mentor Beach Park (news-herald.com) — Police and fire crews from Mentor and Mentor-on-the-Lake safely pulled a woman from Lake Erie after she fled officers and became half-submerged near Mentor Beach Park. Two officers were injured during the rocky shoreline rescue but are recovering, and the woman faces several charges and a future court date. The incident drew a large response from both cities’ safety forces late Thursday night.
   

• Division I football All-Ohio teams announced (wnewsj.com) — Mentor High football is heavily represented on this year’s Division I All-Ohio teams, with Cardinals players named across first, second, third team and honorable mention on both offense and defense. The statewide list, chosen from regular-season play, highlights standout performances from Jackson Farley, Justen Hodge, Landry Brede and many more Mentor seniors.
   

• MEP program halted: MAGNET and manufacturers gear up for fight against federal funding suspension (freshwatercleveland.com) — A sudden suspension of federal and state funding for Ohio’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership could squeeze local firms, including Mentor-based Alloy Precision Technologies, which relies on MAGNET’s support services. MAGNET and manufacturing leaders are pushing for temporary “bridge” funding or use of Ohio’s rainy day fund to keep modernization and job-support programs alive while a federal audit continues.
