Mentor business wins BBB's 2021 Spark Award

Local business devoted to healthy eating wins BBB's award for young entrepreneurs and a $2,000 cash prize

Three entrepreneurs from the Greater Cleveland area were chosen as finalists from a panel of judges for the third class of BBB Spark Award.

The BBB Spark Award recognizes young entrepreneurs aged 35 and younger in Northeast Ohio whose business is less than three years old and who demonstrate a higher level of character, generate a culture that is authentic about its mission, and connect with the community. BBB is pleased to present the Spark Award in partnership with LaunchHouse, a business whose mission is to build a community where businesses and people come together and grow.
Applicants submitted a written application as well as a short video. This year’s Spark Award finalists are:

  • Clean Eatz Mentor
  • Business in Travel
  • Modern Video Productions

The 2021 Spark Award was awarded to Anna Dey, owner of Clean Eatz in Mentor, Ohio, for their own dedication to character, culture, and community. Dey’s passion for her employees, her business, and community is made clear in everything she does as she grows her businesses across Northeast Ohio. “I love being a small business owner in my community and employing incredible people,” says Dey. “Entrepreneurship is what I was meant to pursue - and I'm extremely proud of my businesses.”

“BBB is excited to support our local entrepreneurs, especially amidst all the struggles small businesses have experienced the past two years,” said BBB President and CEO, Sue McConnell. “Greater Cleveland is home to a strong entrepreneurial network replete with young passionate leaders who are building a marketplace focused on trust and a spirit of giving back to the community.”

“I’m impressed with our winners each year. The hard work that the companies put into their applications and videos showed not just their dedication to their businesses but to the values espoused by BBB Cleveland," said Todd Goldstein, CEO and Co-Founder of LaunchHouse. "Our Northeast Ohio entrepreneurial ecosystem is in great hands.”

Clean Eatz Mentor and Anna were recognized at BBB’s Celebration of Integrity on April 14, 2022. Clean Eatz also received a $2,000 cash prize and a one-year flex membership to LaunchHouse.
