Former Westlake High School Student Indicted for Felonious Assault, Abduction

DeAndrew Smith, the former Westlake student accused of causing serious head injuries to another student in fight, has been indicted.

DeAndrew Smith, 18, a former Westlake High School student has been indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury on charges of felonious assault and abduction reports Cleveland.com. The indictment explains that the charge of abduction was warranted because Smith restrained the victim by force or threat.

Smith was involved in a fight in a Westlake High School bathroom and has been accused of fracturing another student's skull. The injured student was taken to Fairview Hospital and later airlifted to Metro. The victim suffered brain bleeding in the April 12th attack from Smith slamming his head on the concrete bathroom floor.

Smith is free on a $5,000 bond and he a protection order not allowing contact with the victim still stands. He will be arraigned on May 9th in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. Visit Cleveland.com for details.
