Westlake High School Student Pleads Not Guilty to Felonious Assault and Abduction

DeAndrew Smith has been accused of fracturing another student's skull in an altercation in a Westlake High School bathroom.

DeAndrew Smith, the 18-year-old Westlake High School sophomore who has been accused of fracturing another student's skull, made another appearance in court today. His legal counsel entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf, reports Cleveland.com.

Smith was indicted by a grand jury on charges of felonious assault and abduction as a result of a fight in a Westlake High School bathroom. The indictment explains that Smith was charged with abduction because he restrained the victim by force or threat.

The 17-year-old victim suffered a brain bleed and a fractured skull at the hands of Smith according to court records.

Another court date is scheduled for May 12, Smith is free on a $5,000 bond and has been ordered to have no contact with the victim.
