Investigators say he confessed to several incidents between Nov. 21 and 25, and he’s now jailed in Mahoning County as the community grapples with the scope of the damage.

Youngstown Diocese responds to parishioners defending now-closed Ashtabula church (cleveland19.com) — The Diocese of Youngstown is defending its decision to close historic Mother of Sorrows Church in Ashtabula, citing millions in needed roof repairs and limited parish funds, while some parishioners push for more transparency and a chance to raise money. The dispute is now headed to the Vatican, leaving the building’s 2026 fate uncertain but keeping Youngstown church leadership in the spotlight.
