Here are the top 3 stories in Tulsa today:
- The Public Service Company of Oklahoma has successfully restored power to homes in Tulsa following a widespread outage on Tuesday morning. Officials say the outage was caused by an equipment failure near 36th Street that initially left more than 1,400 customers without power. Crews were able to restore power to all of the impacted homes by noon on Tuesday. (News On 6)
- Tuesday marked the first day of the new quarter for Tulsa Public Schools, but several sites remained closed to in-person learning due to concerns regarding the Omicron variant of COVID-19. District officials and members of the board of education told parents to anticipate further closures but said in-person learning for all students remains the district's goal. A letter from school officials on Monday also confirmed that the district still does not have a mask requirement for students at this time. (Public Radio Tulsa)
- A Tulsa man organized a coat drive to benefit a local community center. The organizer, Tristan Profit, worked with other volunteers to collect four boxes of used coats, which were donated to the Tulsa Dream Center on Monday. Waterstone Dry Cleaners in Tulsa also volunteered to wash the donated coats for free. (News On 6)
