Here are the top 3 stories in Tulsa today:
- A survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre celebrated his 101st birthday on Tuesday. Hughes Vann Ellis, who spent the day with his family, is one of three remaining survivors of the 1921 massacre in Tulsa's Greenwood District that left an estimated 300 people dead. The survivors are currently waiting on a decision from District Judge Caroline Walls in the Public Nuisance and Abatement case for the people believed to still be affected by the tragedy. (kjrh.com)
- Three "Mean Girls" cast members were flown in from Broadway on Saturday to perform at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center after producers had to cancel the show's final two scheduled performances. A total of four of the eight performances scheduled for the PAC were ultimately canceled due to breakthrough COVID cases in the cast. The PAC is now preparing for the arrival of "The Sound of Music" this weekend, and organizers say the cast and crew are undergoing daily testing. (News On 6)
- The Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma announced that they will start selling their famous cookies in the Tulsa area soon. A new brownie-inspired cookie, “Adventurefuls,” will be added to the lineup this season. Cookie sales will begin online on Jan. 22, and shoppers can expect booths to begin popping up at area stores on Feb. 11. (KTUL)
