$15,000 Reward Offered In Danae Williams Homicide, FBI Says

PORTLAND, OR — A $15,000 reward was announced Wednesday for information leading to the arrest of the people who fatally shot Danae Williams, 25, as she sat in her car at a red light in Portland nearly a year ago.

The FBI offered the reward on behalf of the Metro Safe Streets Task Force, which includes the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Portland Police Bureau; the Gresham Police Department; the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office; the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office; and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.

It was the ninth time the task force offered a reward since it was formed last year.

Williams and the man who was with her at the time of the May 12, 2021, shooting were "innocent victims" of an ongoing gang war, FBI Portland Special Agent in Charge Kieran Ramsey said. Williams died the next day.

The man, who was not identified, was shot in the head as the couple sat at a red light at the intersection of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Dekum Street, police said. The man survived.

A silver sedan pulled up on the passenger side of Willilams' car, and a person or persons fired numerous bullets into her car, police said. She and the other victim had just finished dinner at a nearby restaurant.

At the time, family and friends described Williams to Patch as someone with a great laugh who cared about people and was training to be an emergency medical technician.

"It's long past time for us to come together as a community and find justice for Danae," Ramsey said Wednesday.
