High-speed chase ends in crash in Portland's Lloyd District, suspect breaks iconic clock (katu.com) — A late-night police chase on I-84 ended with a crash in Portland’s Lloyd District that damaged the neighborhood’s well-known clock, nearby planters, and a parked car. Transit police say they used a tire deflation device before the driver tried to flee on foot; he was later treated for injuries and booked into Multnomah County Jail on multiple charges.
   

2. Ethics commission investigates progressive Portland city councilors over August retreat (oregonlive.com) — Portland residents should know that state ethics officials have opened a formal investigation into six progressive city councilors over a private August retreat where they may have violated Oregon’s public meetings law. The probe centers on whether a quorum of members discussed policy topics, including the future of Prosper Portland, without proper public notice, with a follow-up hearing set for May 2025.
   

3. ‘There's intentionality': Crows flock to Portland's waterfront for another roosting season (koin.com) — Huge flocks of crows are once again roosting along Portland’s Willamette riverfront, drawing attention for their noise, droppings, and remarkable intelligence. Local bird experts and the Bird Alliance of Oregon urge residents to coexist, noting the city’s ban on bird poison and discouraging people from feeding or trying to tame the birds as winter roosting peaks downtown.
   

4. Police investigating overnight shooting in Portland (kgw.com) — Portland police are investigating an overnight shooting near Southeast Stark Street that left two men injured but not believed to be in life-threatening condition. A passing sergeant heard shots in a busy parking lot, prompting a large response, street closures, and evidence collection, but no arrests have been made yet.
   

5. Miller scores 31 as Portland State knocks off George Fox 94-50 (myplainview.com) — Portland hoops fans saw a big night as Terri Miller Jr. poured in a career-high 31 points to lead Portland State past George Fox 94–50 in Portland. The Vikings, now 6–3, got strong support from Sebastian Tidor and Jaylin Henderson while holding the Bruins’ top scorer to single digits.
