When most PDX blogs claim they're the best, how do you decide which are worth reading? Patch narrowed it down to 5: see what made the list.

PORTLAND,OR - A city known for its diversity, how do you fight through the mundane media on the internet and find the best blogs? Patch put together a list of 5 blogs that together, capture the creative and complicated creature that is Portland. With content ranging from design and style, to human interest, to local food and story sharing, these 5 blogs are sure to give you more than one great read.
1) Create-Enjoy is DIY Lifestyle blog that consists of entries meant to reduce stress, keep Portlanders organized and provide creative project ideas. Geared toward the needs of the busy yet ambitious young Portland woman, categories include sewing tutorials, health and fitness and DIY Wedding Tips.
"I started my blog in 2009 after I found myself doing a lot of sewing and crafty projects when I was underemployed and had a new apartment to decorate. A friend suggested I document my projects and share with others, and my blog (then called Adventures in Dressmaking) was born! 2) On The Town is a popular pick among younger Portlanders. The blog is a branch of PDX Monthly; its content is curated by Fiona McCann and Rebecca Jacobson. These two editors differ dramatically in the experiences they seek out, which makes 'On The Town' a dynamic read. A popular installment is the Playlist blog entry that consists of an eclectic mix of local music.

3) Back Fence PDX is a blog that focuses on live story telling. If you've yet be introduced to the Art of Story Telling, it dates back to the Ancient Greek tradition of oral story sharing. Back Fence PDX is an inclusive organization, and its blog tracks the shared stories of memoir writers, hip-hop artists, teachers and comedians.
4) Humans of Portland, born out of the original 'Humans of New York' blog is a favorite among PDX locals because of how honest it is in its representation of the Portland community. Pictures of people at their worst and best, Humans of Portland can both ground and inspire its readers. From a little league game in Portland to love in line at the food bank, Humans of PDX is characterized by the mixture of intense and light-hearted stills.
5) Food Carts Portland is the great equalizing blog. Why? Because everyone has gotta eat! This blog keeps its followers one step ahead of the rest of the Portland Foodie community by updating its stream with the location of different food trucks as the move around Portland via their food cart map.
