1. Say ‘I do' in a Portland park: How to book your wedding date in the new year (portlandtribune.com) — Planning to get married in 2026? Portland Parks & Recreation will start taking in-person reservations for weddings in city parks and gardens on Monday, Jan. 5, with other methods opening Jan. 6. Couples can line up downtown, meet local wedding vendors, enjoy refreshments, and learn about permit rules, restricted sites, and how to lock in their preferred Portland location.
   

2. Man faces domestic violence murder charges after woman stabbed, killed in SE Portland (kptv.com) — Police say a woman was found fatally stabbed early Saturday inside a Southeast Portland apartment near SE Stark Street and 126th Avenue, and a 41-year-old Portland man has been arrested and charged with domestic violence-related murder. Detectives briefly closed a lane of SE Stark during the investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the Portland Police Bureau’s homicide unit, referencing case number 25-347614.
   

3. Consumer complaint about metal pieces sparks recall of kielbasa sausages (foodsafetynews.com) — A Portland-based maker, Olympia Provisions, is recalling 1,930 pounds of its uncured holiday kielbasa after a consumer found metal pieces in the sausage. The fully cooked product, produced October 14 and sold in Oregon, California, Washington, and online, may still be in home fridges or freezers. Shoppers are urged not to eat it and to contact a healthcare provider if worried about injury.
   

4. 2 arrests made during ICE protest, 1 accused of assaulting officer (koin.com) — Two Portland residents were arrested during a Friday night protest outside the city’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, including one accused of punching a police sergeant. Portland police say the other person was arrested after allegedly knocking a man’s phone from his hand, and note they’ve made 72 protest-related arrests at the ICE site so far this year.
