The Old Town venture says it has cut costs and secured some private funding, but key details on financing and tenants remain unclear as the city weighs how much leeway to grant.

2. Legacy urgent care workers join APP picket line in two-day strike (koin.com) — Advanced practice providers at Legacy GoHealth urgent care clinics across the Portland metro are joining striking Legacy hospital APPs on the picket line for a two-day solidarity strike. Workers cite patient care concerns, high turnover, and below-market pay, while the Oregon Nurses Association accuses Legacy of threatening health insurance for strikers as both sides head into another mediation session.

3. Boise-bound: Oregon-Idaho bus route relaunched by Northwestern Stage Lines (ncwlife.com) — If you’ve been missing an easy way to get from Portland to Boise, a daily bus route is running again thanks to state and federal transit funding. The service starts in Portland, connects to multiple Eastern Oregon towns and Pasco, and offers a roughly 10-hour ride that links travelers to Amtrak, airports, and other long-distance buses at lower costs than private rides.

Portland's Olympia Provisions recalls holiday kielbasa over metal contamination concerns (katu.com) — A Portland-based maker of Olympia Provisions sausages is recalling nearly a ton of its Uncured Holiday Kielbasa after a consumer reported finding metal in the product. Packages produced October 14 and sold in Oregon, Washington, California, and online should be thrown away or returned, and not eaten, even though no injuries have been reported.

5. Portland baker called her first ‘Is It Cake?' appearance ‘humbling.' Now she's won the show's holiday crown (oregonlive.com) — A Portland-area cake artist just turned a hyper-realistic Santa cake into a $55,000 win on Netflix’s “Is It Cake? Holiday Edition,” after a previous early exit from the show. Liz Marek, who now teaches cake design online from home, draws heavily on her Oregon roots for her stump and crab cakes and shares free gingerbread tutorials with local and global fans.
