BIKETOWN Offering Free Rides Under One Hour For Earth Day Weekend
The bike-share program is encouraging to keep the car at home and bicycle this weekend. All rides under one hour are free.

PORTLAND, OR —The bicycle ride-share program BIKETOWN would like you to use pedal power to help give petals more power this Earth Day Weekend. The organization is offering free rides under one hour through Sunday night.
"Consider taking a trip by bike that you may have used your car car for," the organization said in a statement. "Heck, it's free.
"Earth Day is an opportunity to consider making a change, big or small, in how you do everything things."

At the same time, BIKETOWN said that people need to remember that a free ride still means that rules have to be followed.
"Remember, it's not the Wild West," the organization's statement said. "Please park responsibly and keep bikes within the service area.

BIKETOWN was started by the Portland Bureau of Transportation, Nike and Lyft, which manages the bike share program in Portland and other cities around the country.
The organization currently has about 1,500 bicycles located at 180 stations around the city.
