Bridging Voices is Portland's First Youth LGBTQ Chorus

Portland's only QSA (Queer Straight Alliance) Youth Chorus, working to create a safe space for youth ages 13 - 22 to express their identity.

Bridging Voices reaches out to queer youth and their families, provides education on queer issues to the greater Portland area, and uplifts the LGBTQ community in Portland and the world.

"Most of our member development is through word of mouth and direct outreach to Portland Public Schools. So far in 2016 we have delivered presentations to 18 Schools and the 2016 PPS GSA Youth Summit (March 2016), reaching more than 1500 youth in the process," said Jenn Director Knudsen, Freelancer for the Oregonian.

  • Currently at 32 members, about one-third identify as transgender or gender-fluid.
  • Performed at a benefit for the Dougy Center of Portland, helping to raise $3,000 for this local youth services agency.
  • Awarded a Capacity building Grant with first year funding of $15,000 from the Oregon Community Foundation: The Roy and Diane Marvin Fund, and The Jim McBroom and John H. Weston Fine Arts Fund, grantors.
