Former Hoover Gang Member Gets 3 Years In Prison, Prosecutor Says

Javontae Nadine Gibson wil spend 3 years in federal prison, then 3 years under supervised release after pleading guilty to a weapons charge.

PORTLAND, OR — A man that prosecutors said posted online ads with photos of drugs and weapons that he was selling will now spend three years in federal prison. Javontae Nadine Gibson, 28, will also spend three years under supervised released.

Gibson, who prosecutors described as a "former member of the Hoover gang," pleaded guilty last November to a single count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

He had been indicted in August 2020 after investigators say that they found six handguns, two rifles, more than a dozen magazines, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and about $5,000 cash in his apartment in Northeast Portland.

He was sentenced n Porland Federal Court on Monday.

The investigation was carried out by officers from the Portland Police Bureau, Multnomah County Sherff's Office, Gresham Police Department, and agents from the FBI.
