Here are the top three stories today in Portland:

  1. On Tuesday, Apr. 11, Top Chef's Gabriel Pascuzzi will open a brand new two-in-one restaurant across from the pedestrian square on Raleigh Street in Portland. The restaurant is called Feel Good, which was originally a pandemic pop-up that specialized in creating elaborate grain bowls; it will share a space with Pascuzzi's popular deli Stacked Sandwich Shop which closed back in 2021 and will now be revived for this new endeavor. Several of the restaurant's favorite menu items will return, including the popular oxtail French dip, smoked turkey Reuben, and the turkey-bacon hero. (Eater Portland)
  2. On Sunday, Apr. 9, the Portland Police Bureau responded to reports of a stabbing in the Buckman neighborhood that left one man dead. According to authorities, the report came around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, and once police arrived at the intersection of Southeast Washington Street and Southeast Water Avenue, they found a man who was declared dead at the scene. A suspect, 30-year-old Moses Lopez, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail with charges of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. (FOX12 Oregon)
  3. The Bidwell Marriott in Portland will officially kick off its new speaking series, Purpose PDX, at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 12. The series is meant to highlight local business leaders and encourage more visitors to come back to the downtown area. Wednesday night's panel will be centered around women in sports and feature Timbers and Thorns CEO Heather Davis, Timbers Head Athletic Trainer Stephanie Ludwig, and more. (KOIN.com)

  • After a warm weekend, the National Weather Service confirmed that temperatures will begin to dip back down to the low 50s in Portland and surrounding areas this week. Residents will see steady rain showers through late Tuesday, and these storms won't be out of the way until mid-week. There will be a few sunny breaks throughout the week, especially on Friday, but this upcoming weekend is already looking nice and dry. (KOIN)
  • On Sunday, Apr. 11, the Oregon Zoo announced that the youngest member of its black bear family, 13-year-old Takoda, tragically passed away. The bear went into cardiac arrest while under anesthesia to perform a routine medical check, and unfortunately, zoo employees were not able to revive the animal. (Willamette Week)
