I5 Commute A Mess Because Of Police Action On Interstate Bridge

Vancouver Police chased a car theft suspect on to the Interstate Bridge snarling traffic more than one hour.

PORTLAND, OR — The Wednesday evening commute was a mess if you were trying to cross the Interstate Bridge. There was a police action on one side and semi-truck losing its load on the other.

Around 4 in the afternoon, Vancouver Police spotted a stolen car on their side of the bridge. Inside they saw a man known to them as being possibly armed and dangerous.

As they went over to the car, the driver sped off.

They were able to strike the car at slow speed, bringing it to a halt, allowing the officers to take the man into custody. His name and charges have not been released.

Meanwhile, as that was going on, a crash happened on I5 North.

A semi-truck driver lost his load as it spilled out onto I5 by Terwilliger Boulevard.

There were no injuries there.
