  1. Local state and city historic preservation organizations have nominated the Portland childhood home of Native American jazz artist Jim Pepper to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Park Service will make a decision on the nomination sometime in the spring. If accepted, the Parkrose neighborhood house would be one of the first Pacific Northwest properties to earn a place on the national register due to its contemporary Indigenous history. (OregonLive)
  2. Employees of the Portland International Airport were recently given a sneak peek at the new terminal renovations. The new project includes a brand new roof that was first assembled on the airfield before being installed. The new terminal is expected to open in May 2024, according to officials at PDX. (KATU)
  3. For the first time, Portland will be trimming park trees in proactive maintenance rather than waiting to respond to emergencies. In the past, Portland's Parks & Recreation Bureau has not had the staff or funding to proactively maintain the city's 1.2 million trees. However, due to recent funding from 2020, the department has since been able to hire enough staff to perform the work. (Oregon Public Broadcasting)
