PORTLAND, OR — If you know someone who regularly gets food deliveries from Meals on Wheels People, today would be a good day to check on them. The organization had to cancel their Tuesday deliveries.

Meals on Wheels People says that icy roads and bad weather forced their hands.

"We want to ensure the safety of both our clients and our volunteers," Meals on Wheels People CEO Suzanne Washington said.

The organization says that last fall, they provided shelf-stable meals to each of the more than 7,000 people that they serve every day in the area.

"We will conduct wellness and safety calls to ensure that they are safe and remind them to eat one of the meals we provided," Washington added.
