Here are the top three stories today in Portland:

  1. The Oregon Brewers Festival, which canceled its summer event earlier this year, is coming back as a tap takeover during the Portland Rose Festival's CityFair. The craft beer celebration, which is celebrating its 35th year this year, will be the festival's featured event during its second week from Friday, Jun. 2 through Sunday, Jun. 4. The 2023 festival begins on May 26, and this year's theme is "Focus on Fun." (OregonLive)
  2. The James Beard Foundation announced the 2023 Media Award nominees in the three categories of books, broadcast media, and journalism, and several Portland-based nominees made the list. Portland writers Karen Brooks, a food editor and critic for "Portland Monthly," and Brooke Jackson-Glidden, the editor for Eater Portland, were both nominated for the journalism award, while All The Homies Network was nominated for the broadcast media nominee. (Eater Portland)
  3. Portland resident Jeanne Shioshi recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Shioshi and her family grew up as the only Japanese Americans in nearby Redmond and were forced to live for three years in U.S. prison camps during World War II when she was 19 years old. Shioshi's family held a birthday celebration in her honor at the American Legion Hall on Mar. 11, 2023. (OregonLive)
