PORTLAND, OR — It's lights, light, action at the Oregon Zoo. Their annual ZooLights exhibition is open and will be there for adults and children to see through January 9, 2022.

This year's exhibit involves more than 1.5 million colored lights arranged to represent not only the holidays but things familiar to Oregonians.

New to the exhibit this year is a colored light scaled-down version of the famous Portland, Oregon sign that illuminates Old Town. The ZooLights version was made by the same company that made the large version.

Like in 2020, there will be two options to see the lights: by foot and by car.

The zoo suggests that the drive-thru option should appeal to a wide group of people including those with physical challenges and people with concerns about COVID-19.

"Everything's been adapting to change these past couple of years, and ZooLights is no exception," Oregon Zoo Guest Services Manager Ivan Ratcliff says.

"We've put a lot of measures into place to help make this holiday tradition safe, accessible, and fun for everyone."

Ratcliff says that there are several things visitors will need to know:

The number of visitors is being limited and people will need to reserve tickets ahead of time;

If you're doing the walk-thru, you will need to be wearing a mask. that goes for everyone 5-years-old and older. If you're doing the drive-thru, you will only need to wear a mask while checking in;

In keeping with the safety theme, all transactions will be cashless, people walking through will follow a one way path, and indoor areas will remain closed.
