Parkrose Shooting Leaves Man Dead Sunday Morning, Suspect Held
Portland police arrived at the scene of a shooting early Sunday morning. They found a man killed by gunfire, and the suspect who had stayed.
PORTLAND, OR — The calls to 911 said gunshots had been fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 4800 block of Northeast 103rd Avenue early Sunday morning. Police quickly arrived and found a man on the ground, shot and dying.
Officers didn't know if the shooter was still out there, ready to fire on people.
With other officers providing cover, they were able to move the victim to a location where paramedics could treat him safely. The paramedics rushed the man to the hospital where he died.

As officers investigated, they detained several people, one of whom was the suspect who had remained at the scene.
This was the second homicide in less than 10 hours in the North Precinct. It was also the 19the homicide of the year. Seventeen of those victims were shot to death.
