Portland Police Officer Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges (portlandmercury.com) — A longtime Portland Police Bureau officer has been placed on leave after his recent arrest in Clackamas County on multiple domestic violence-related charges, prompting internal and state-level reviews of his certifications and conduct. Portland’s police chief emphasized the seriousness of the allegations and the bureau’s focus on accountability, while state training officials review the officer’s history of extended leaves and any prior reportable discipline.
   

2. Portland names first director of public utilities to lead Water Bureau and Environmental Services (kgw.com) — Portland has appointed Dr. Ting Lu as its first-ever public utilities director, unifying leadership of the Water Bureau and Bureau of Environmental Services starting Jan. 2. She’ll oversee more than 1,200 employees and a $1 billion budget, guiding the city’s One Water initiative to keep drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater services reliable and affordable for nearly a million regional customers.
   

3. Shooting in Southeast Portland leaves 1 man dead (kgw.com) — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Southeast Portland’s Hazelwood neighborhood after a man was found with a gunshot wound on Southeast 139th Avenue Tuesday evening and pronounced dead at the scene. Southeast 139th was closed from Mill Street to Main Street during the homicide investigation, and detectives are still searching for any suspect or suspects.
   

4. Conservative influencer arrested near Portland ICE facility seeking $10 million from city (kptv.com) — A conservative influencer is seeking $10 million from the City of Portland after his October arrest near the Portland ICE facility, claiming unlawful arrest and political discrimination by Portland Police. Prosecutors later dropped the disorderly conduct charge, and his attorney has sent a detailed memo alleging long-term political bias to the U.S. Department of Justice, which is reviewing it as part of its ongoing PPB assessment.
   

5. Bus Service Connecting Northeast Oregon to Portland and Boise Returns (northeastoregonnow.com) — A new intercity bus route will again link Portland’s Union Station with Boise along I-84, restoring service that Greyhound dropped earlier this year. Backed by a $600,000 federal grant to Northwestern Stage Lines, the route will also connect Portland riders to multiple rural Oregon communities and national transportation networks when it launches December 15.
