PDX Hit By Weather Delays To Departing And Arriving Flights
The ice on the ground in Portland is just a tiny part of a larger problem as thousands of flights around the country are grounded.

PORTLAND, OR — Monday is one of the busiest travel days of the year at Portland International Airport. Thanks to freezing weather here and around the country, it is also one of the most chaotic.
Alaska Air, one of the larger carriers to fly in and out of PDX, canceled more than a dozen flights in and out of Portland. That was just a handful of the hundreds of flights the airline canceled.
Around the country, thousands of flights have been canceled – and thousands more delayed – around the country. FlightAware, a tracking website, says that there were more than 16,000 flight delays on Sunday alone.

If your plans bring you through PDX at all, the best way to check for delays is to head to FlyPDX, the airport's website, where they list all delays and cancelations.
Alaska Airlines says that while COVID-19 played a role in some cancelations, that's no longer a factor. It's just the weather, they say.

Several other airlines including Delta, United, JetBlue, and American have all cited coronavirus concerns causing staffing shortages in discussing canceled flights.
