Peacock Lane 2021 Is Open: Here's What You Need To Know
After taking 2020 off, Peacock Lane is making a big comeback with just a few changes to encourage safety.

PORTLAND, OR — One of Portland's grand holiday traditions is back this year. The organizers of Peacock Lane cut the ribbon Wednesday allowing the first people to wander the street and see what's considered the region's most decorated street.
The annual tradition of people along the one street in Southeast Portland decorating their houses and their lawns, using enough energy to power the rest of the city, took 2020 off because of the pandemic.
The announcement that the lights would be back was made just a day after Oregon announced that the outdoor mask mandate was over.

Organizers said that there are some changes this year due to COVID-19 safety concerns.
Most notably there will be no cocoa booth as in years past. Also, Organizers say that because of the year off, they expect the crowds to be large so they recommend driving. Pedestrians will be allowed on the sidewalks but there will not be any pedestrian-only nights this year.

Organizers add:
* There is no charge to see the lights. And you should not be asked for donations or anything "monetary" when on the Lane.
* Vehicle traffic will be heavy, plan to spend some time in traffic
* There are no public restrooms
* There is no special parking area set up. It's all on-street parking (and no parking on the Lane itself!), and we ask that you please be considerate of our neighbors - for example, don't block driveways even if it's "Just for a few minutes." Also, Wal-Greens will tow if you park in their lot and aren't a customer.
* We do not light up earlier, as it would cause traffic jams almost immediately
Peacock Lane is open through New Year's Eve, from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. each evening.
