Portland Airbnb Host Shot By Tenant, Police Say

A woman who owns a property that she was renting part of as an Airbnb, was shot by a tenant and critically injured, according to police.

PORTLAND, OR — A woman who turned part of her property into an Airbnb is in critical condition after she was shot multiple times by a tenant, according to Portland police. The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at a house in the 4600 block of NE Grand Avenue, police said.

Cavelon Lett, 21, was arrested and is being held on more than $500,000 bail at the Multnomah County Detention Center, according to court records. Lett is charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police said that officers arrived at the home after calls reported a shooting.

Officers found the woman with a gunshot wound to her chest, police said. They added that the woman had been shot when she knocked on the door where Lett was staying.

Police said that they made sure that no one was else in the house and then started talking with Lett, who eventually agreed to surrender.

The woman was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
