Portland Area Expecting Enough Rain To Prompt Warnings
The roads will be slick. There will be ponds popping up where you don't expect them. Officials say be careful while you drive.
PORTLAND, OR — There's a lot of rain expected this weekend, maybe as much as two inches in some areas. That's prompted concern from officials who are reminding people to take extra caution if out on the road.
"With this heavy rain, ponding is occurring on roads and highways across the county,".the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office tweeted Friday morning.
"Remember to drive to the conditions! Take it slow and leave additional space between you and the car in front of you."

The Portland Bureau of Transportation is offering several tips for being out and about in the rain:

- Lights: If you're in a car, make sure they're on; if you're on a bicycle, make sure that you have a light; if you're walking, wear something lit. Make it easier for others to see you;
- If driving or out on a bicycle; go slow, pay attention, and look out for those around you;
- Wet roads can double the time that it takes you to stop so leave plenty of space between you and the car or bicycle in front of you;
- It's pretty much impossible to tell if a puddle in front of you is just a shallow puddle or a deep pothole that's filled up;
- If you're waking, on a bicycle, or in a wheelchair, remember that the rain makes it harder for cars to see you and that it can take them longer to stop; and,
