Portland Bar Shares Employees' Personal Info On Facebook

The Facebook post apparently had the employees' social security numbers.

PORTLAND, OR -- An Oregon bar reportedly shared its employees personal information, including social security numbers, in a Facebook post. Vanguard, the student newspaper at Portland State University, reported The Know, a bar in northeast Portland, shared the personal data last Friday night.

The Facebook post apparently included the employees' W-2 forms, which have addresses and social security numbers of the workers.

"The posts, which were reportedly up for several hours, were deleted following angry public comments, but some members of Portland’s DIY music scene and other witnesses collected screenshots beforehand," the newspaper reported.

"Printing, displaying or posting SSNs publicly is illegal under Oregon state law. One employee declined comment, as they and other employees are seeking legal advice regarding the matter," Vanguard said.

Vanguard said "comments mentioned some kind of retaliation by bar owner Ryan Stowe against the employees involved."
