Police did say that two of the four officers, they have not said which, were assigned to one of the bureau's Focused Intervention Teams. The FIT teams started operating in January in a bid to curb rising gun violence in the city.
An official familiar with the investigation who asked not to be named told Patch that around 9:15 p.m. Friday by the intersection of N.E. 78th Avenue and N.E. Mason Street, the officers tried to stop a silver Lexus with no license plates.

Police sad that there "was an exchange of gunfire" but provided no details about how many shots were fired by the man who was shot. Police did say that they seized a semi-automatic pistol from the scene.
At some point during the "exchange," police said three of the officers believed that one of the colleagues had been shot. That turned out not to be the case, according to police.
The official said that one of the officers had like been struck by shattered glass.
There were two women in the car with the man in the car, according to the official. Police have not said what happened to them or provided any details about them.
Police said that the person who was shot will not be identified until he is charged with a crime.
