The Portland Performing Arts Center Debuts Eugene Onegin

The Portland Performing Arts Center has an upcoming Portland Opera production of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at The Newmark Theatre on July 8th, at 7:30 P.M.

The opera - considered the La Boheme of Russia - is based on Alexander Pushkin's classic 1825 novel in verse.

In writing the libretto, Tchaikovsky's kept much of Pushkin's words, preserving the poetry of the novel.

The opera will be sung in Russian with English subtitles.
