PORTLAND, OR — Dillon says that he was framed.

The Portland Pickles mascot was handed control of the team's Twitter account on Wednesday. They said that he would be posting and answering questions from fans.

His first post said, "new phone who dis" over a photo that many took to be a photo of his, well, pickle.

Three minutes later, Dillon's control of the Twitter account was taken away.

"We have ended our mascot takeover," the team said. "It's come to our attention that this photo can be misinterpreted as a disturbing image. Dillon would like to go on record and say that he was trying to give his fans a thumbs up."

As the mentions and retweets started to climb – and people claimed that the tweet had left a sour taste – so did the suspicion that Dillon's poorly cropped pic was not so poorly cropped, that the whole thing had been planned.

The original tweet tagged Oscar Mayer, Corn Nuts, Steam-ummm, and Manscaped.

Later, the team tweeted out what they called a video statement from Dillon commenting on what they called a "scandill."

The video makes light of the reaction and ends with Dillon holding up a sign saying he was framed.

"We will continue our internal investigation and will likely release the findings," on Friday, the team tweeted. "We assure you that we are hard at work to get to the bottom of this and it is a big dill to us."

The Pickles have been playing at Walker Park in Portland since 2015. They play in the West Coast League.
