Portland Police Probe Second Downtown Homicide In About 12 Hours

PORTLAND, OR — For the second time in just over 12 hours, Portland Police are downtown investigating a homicide. Officials said that a man was just under the Burnside Bridge just before noon.

Thursday night they responded to a homicide just blocks away.

Naito Parkway was shut down from Southwest Ash Street to Northwest Couch Street while detectives investigated.

The victim was seriously injured and is being treated an a local hospital, officials said. Later he was pronounced dead despite efforts to save his life.

Police said that one person is in custody. They have not released names of those involved yet.
