Portland Weather Wednesday: Icy Roads, Some Snow, Tricky Commute

If the forecast for Wednesday sounds familiar, like you've heard it each of the past two days, would are not wrong.

The roads will be icy, a fact likely to be covered up by a dusting of snow. Officials say drive carefully and if you can, take mass transit.

PORTLAND, OR — The good news is that starting Saturday, the temperature will settle back comfortably into the low to mid-40s. The bad news is that until then, it mostly going to be hanging around freezing.

The worse news is that the freezing temperatures Tuesday night means that the Wednesday morning commute will likely be just as it was Monday morning and Tuesday morning.

Especially combined with the dusting of snow that's expected in most of the metro area. The farther east that you go, the more snow that will likely be there to greet you.

Officials are echoing their call of the past few days – if you don't have to be on the road, avoid it. Take mass transit if possible. What snow there is will likely cover the ice, making driving more dangerous.

While it's getting warmer, the National Weather Service says don't get used to it. The temperatures are expected to be lower than normal, which could mean more snow than usual.
