Southwest Portland Water Main Break Floods Homes, Cuts Off Water

About a dozen homes in Southwest Portland are without water while others flooded after a water main break early Monday morning.

PORTLAND, OR — Around a dozen homes were left without water while others had too much of it as a water main broke in Southwest Portland. The break flooded several homes starting about 1 a.m. on Monday.

The break happened on the 2100 block of Southwest Fairmount.

The Portland Water Bureau reports that the broken main was a 75-year-old cast iron pipe. they believe that age was a factor in the break.
