Police said that the van was stolen around SE 26th Avenue and SE Ash Street by Central Catholic High School. Officers started to give chase but abandoned it because of how fast the van was going, police said.

Other officers were able to lay down spike strips, which punctured at least one of the van's tires, according to police. The van's driver apparently lost control, struck the two pedestrians and crashed into another vehicle.
