Sunday Afternoon Lents Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Police Say
Homicide detectives are investigating what may have been an accidental shooting Sunday afternoon in Lents, according to police.
PORTLAND, OR — A man is dead after a shooting in Southeast Portland Sunday afternoon, police said. It happened on the 5800 block of Southeast 99th Avenue by Southeast Ramona Street, according to police.
Police said that the shooting happened around 2:45 p.m.
The victim was first brought to a fire station, according to police who added that from there he was transported to a local hospital.

Police said that the man died at the hospital. No other information about the victim has been provided.
While police have not provided any additional information about the shooting, one official familiar with the investigation who was not authorized to speak publicly, said that among the scenarios that police are looking at is that the victim and someone else were examining the gun when it went off.
