Two Portland Thorns Named To USWNT Training Roster Ahead Of Camp
Lindsay Horan and Sophia Smith will join the U.S. Women's National Team in Austin next week for training camp.

PORTLAND, OR —Two members of the Portland Thorns are headed to Texas to join the United States Women's National Team or training camp next week. The Thorns announced Wednesday that midfielder Lindsey Horan and forward Sophia Smith have been named to the 25-player roster for the camp.
Training camp opens on January 19 in Austin and runs through the 28th.
Two weeks after, the national team starts its 2022 campaign with the SheBelieves Cup with games against the Czech Republic, New Zealand, and Iceland.

Horan, who has played six seasons with the Timbers, is no stranger to the national team.
She played 22 games with them last year, starting 18 of them and leading the team in minutes played. She tallied six goals and five assists. She was a member of the squad that won the Bronze Medal in last year's Olympics, starting five of six games.

Last month she was named the 2021 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, making her just the third player to win the federation's Young Female Player and Player of the Year.
In her career, she's scored 25 goals in 108 international games.
Smith, who joined the Thorns in 202o after a standout college career at Stanford, was the 2017 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year, the same year that she played in 19 international matches, the most of any U.S. player in any age bracket.
